Catholic Social Services supports a team of chaplains across Greater Wellington hospitals and prisons who provide pastoral support, prayer, liturgies, and advocacy.

Hospital ChaplainsPrison Chaplain
Hospital chaplains are part of the ecumenical chaplaincy team and offer compassionate support to patients, whānau, and staff. They are available to listen, provide comfort, and offer the Sacraments when needed.

If you list “Roman Catholic” on admission, the chaplain will receive your details. If you have not been visited and would like support, please ask a staff member to contact the Catholic chaplain.
The prison chaplain offers compassionate support to people in prison, providing spiritual care, a listening ear, and practical help. They support religious practice and services, advocate for individual needs, and help maintain connections with whānau and the wider community.

Key support can include one-to-one pastoral care, facilitating services and sacraments, and offering guidance around wellbeing and reintegration when requested.
