Our response to issues of ecology, justice and peace in the world today is grounded in the call of the Gospel and theme of the 2017 Synod of the Archdiocese of Wellington and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Our approach is an integral one, connecting ‘the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor’.

Social justice responses look different from parish to parish, to meet the varying needs of communities at the flaxroots. Support is available for parish leadership social justice planning and parish outreach initiatives, including threading in established projects and partnerships.

The Ecology, Justice and Peace Commission promotes the social teaching of the Church, and shines a light on issues of injustice in social systems and structures.

Catholic Social Services supports individuals and communities with a range of social services and programmes.
